Because Erin declared that I needed to post:
I'm lazy, so bullet points.
Being back in Hamilton is such a let-down :P
I'm lazy, so bullet points.
- MELBOURNE IS REALLY AWESOME, I want to live there more than ever.
- It was really hard not to put hearts and smileys on every sentence here.
- This is my motel room:
it was like having my own tiny little apartment. People at work all looked at me funny when I said I went by myself, but it was great having that much freedom :) - Also it was in a really good location for late-night doughnut missions.
- On Saturday night I saw various bands.
Sitting in the seats by myself was a rather lame experience. But that was okay because I could just look forward to being on the floor in Auckland :) - Watching concerts is still fun even if I'm not in bandom anymore, but somehow I just wasn't in the mood in Auckland, which was a bit of a sad end to my holiday.
- Even at the end of the concert I didn't feel weird about walking back to the motel by myself. It's such a different feeling than what it was like walking down Queen Street in the evening a week later.
- I saw some fangirls, but I am a failtastic lurker even in RL. Before the concert I just wandered off to go get food and stuff rather than trying to talk to people. And then, even though I told myself I would go to the pancake breakfast I had some alarm-clock woes and, while I could probably have made it there, used that as an excuse not to go. Basically, I suck at normal human interaction :/
- TRAINS!
I needed to go to a supermarket, so I looked them up in the phonebook and then tried to pick a train that would take me to one. And somehow it worked! I got off the train and the supermarket was right by the station :D - I am way too excited by public transport.
- Sunday I went and saw Wicked. I had a really good seat (birthday present from the parents):
It was awesome. So awesome that I went back on Wednesday by winning the ticket lottery ($30 tickets ftw) and watched it again from the front row. - I ate a lot of tasty things! I had real ramen for the first time sitting out on the footpath and watching the trams go past ♥
- Public spaces where you can sit! Puts Garden Place to shame :P They had the Olympics showing on the big screen and heaps of people were watching it. After the Olympics were over they showed various things.
- During the week I did a bit of shopping, but didn't get very much stuff. My neighbour goes over to Melbourne every couple of years with a friend just to go shopping, but I really didn't see the great appeal.
- I did find a new favourite store though! Kanga Kanga Japanese Magazines ♥ I went in one day and got a manga magazine, then decided a couple of days later that I should get some more stuff since it's such a novelty buying these thing in RL rather than online. Except I couldn't remember where the place was so had to systematically walk along all the streets in the area where I knew it was for over an hour until I found it again >< Good thing I did, though, since they had JLPT application forms there so I picked one up rather than hoping that uni would get in another supply soon enough for me to fill it in and post it by the deadline.
- View from the top of the war memorial.
- Tennis! I was so happy that I got to go inside the Rod Laver Arena (for Saturday's show). Aha, sports.
(Ryoma preparing for the Australian open? ignore the fact it's months too early) - Arena with train! :D I am really easily pleased.
♥- I think I've gotten better at riding on these:
I had good seats both times, so that helped.
いい練習だった。。。
