Yesterday was AWESOME. (omg 24 hours ago I was 10 metres from MCR)

This time we didn't arrive just before the doors opened! In fact, we were at the Vector around 12. There were less than this many people:

when [livejournal.com profile] stepps, her brother and I met [livejournal.com profile] cheshire_cat94 at gate C. I was stressing out a little over the fact that my ticket was for gate G while everyone else's was C, but the lady in the ticket office reassured me that it wouldn't matter where I lined up, so we waited there. [livejournal.com profile] cheshire_cat94 had made an awesome banner but the Vector staff wouldn't let us put it up; they also stopped [livejournal.com profile] stepps from drawing with chalk on the ground, so they were pretty much just all-round party wreckers.

[livejournal.com profile] nz_bonjovi_gal and her friend joined us for a while then left again, and [livejournal.com profile] jocondite arrived sometime, and there was also one other girl who sat with us but I never found out who she was. We just sat around for ages, besides a bathroom mish to Britomart because we didn't want to use the port-a-loos. At some ridiculously early time they made us form actual lines rather than just crowds near the doors; at that point we decided the line at gate G looked smaller so we moved over there. I decided to take my bag back to the car because I really didn't want to have to hold on to it in the pit, so I have no photos of the show. I kind of regret it, I would love to have some visual reminders. Instead I'm reduced to stalking the youtubes :/

We stood in line for so. fucking. long. My lazy feet were tired before we ever got inside the arena. To make it extra torturous, a group of hyperactive teens decided to loudly sing all the pop hits of the late 90s to pass the time D: ANYWAY. [livejournal.com profile] jocondite's sister joined us, and eventually we got to go in. They checked every single bag, and at first they were using metal detectors on everyone as they went in but I guess they realised that was taking way too long and stopped. They weren't nearly as strict on cameras as I thought they were going to be, they just told people not to use them, and the security guards pushed them down when they saw people taking photos in the pit.

I'd heard that Circa Survive were opening, but I'd never heard any of their songs before. Can't say I'm a fan, I found them creepy. (lol, it was their last night on tour so they got pranked with stuff exploding behind the curtain while they were playing). We also had Streetwise Scarlet again (what, are they the default opener for international bands in NZ?), and they were decent. The transition time between bands was much better than at Fall Out Boy. I wouldn't even have cared how long it took to set up for MCR, though, because I was quite happy watching Matt Cortez do his tech thing right in front of me ([livejournal.com profile] stepps: Is that who I think it is?! me: I think so!!!1). I really mean RIGHT in front of me too, I was directly in front of Frank's mic with two people between me and the barrier :D

When MCR came out on stage I was fucking overwhelmed. 10 fucking metres from Frank Iero and Mikey Way! adfjgidlfjsjkkdgggggggggggg They were all v hot. Frank being the tinyest sexiest guy in bandom! MikeyFuckingWay in his boots and awesomeness! Gee the flaming hotass! I couldn't see that much of Ray Toro, but every time I looked over he had a big smile on his face!

  • When it was dark just before they came on stage, I could see Ray's 'fro beside the stage and it got me so excited.

  • And then they came on, and there was pyro, and it was just epic right from the start (did you know that 'epicness' is my favourite quality in everything? it makes it fairly obvious why I love this band so much).

  • During the second song (my memory, so shit) Frank lay down on top of some speakers and played there, awesome.

  • And during I'm Not Okay, he had to reel his mic stand in by the cord from where it had fallen on the floor to do his "trust me", and then promptly threw it away again. So very Frank :D

  • He abuses that microphone in so many ways. He put his mouth all over it, and spat on it, and basically it was a tool in his quest to make us all think dirty thoughts. I think he succeeded.

  • The part where Gerard told us we should have a high opinion of ourselves because the guys up on stage do of themselves. That was the one perfect thing for Gee to say if he was trying to Save My Life ♥ I need to find a clip of that on youtube so I can watch it whenever I'm feeling useless.

  • Desert Sonnnnnnng. As soon as I saw Ray with his acoustic guitar I squeed so loud. Poor confused people in the crowd who didn't know what was going on. I sang along hard enough to make up for the people around me anyway. (I'm sure the hardcore fans I was around up the front would have known all the words, but by this time I'd given up and moved back where it was a little more sedate. I had room to move my arms!)

  • Even more people were confused when Gee sang a little bit of Flash by Queen before Cancer. Kids these days, I don't know.

  • Famous Last Words. Epic ♥ The perfect ending.

O M F-ing G. For real, it was just amazing. I was even surprisingly comfortable, even when I was squished so much I couldn't turn straight on to the stage and had to stand sideways. I didn't get dehydrated, and both feet stayed on the floor almost the whole time. By the time I got home I was feeling rather sad that it was over, and almost as if it never happened at all. But I couldn't sleep, and so I came on lj and read this recap on GiveACheer.net, and it all came back and I teared up at the memories. I've gone through today in a weird cross between joy at the random memories that pop up in my head and lethargy because I don't have anything near as awesome planned for the future. I still have a faint imprint on my arm saying 'cupca..' and I'm not in any hurry to scrub it off because every time I see it it reminds me that I was part of such an incredible experience with so many people who felt the same way.
