Apr. 14th, 2008 04:16 pmI had a job interview today. I think I did okay; they're going to get back to the successful applicants by the end of the week, so I'll find out then.
It's a lab job at a pharmaceutical manufacturing place near my house. It's fairly routine work, and the pay is good, plus they offer medical insurance and 4% Kiwisaver. My parents really think I should jump at the chance if I get offered a job there.
On the other hand, it involves very rigid quality control and error reporting (ugh, FDA regulations), which has apparently been known to get to people, and if anyone's likely to crumble in a stressful environment like that it'll be me. Also as far as I could see there isn't a great deal of opportunity for advancement, as it's obviously just a team testing the same few products all the time.
In other words, I'm pretty sure I'd be happier staying at Hills. There's an Instrument Technician position which just came up, so tomorrow I'm going to ask TL about that, what my chances would be like for getting it. And in Hills there are so many different possibilities for the future...
And there's still another thing I'd really like to do, I need to send off another email about that. This one would also mean staying at Hills for now, and maybe even long term in a more awesome way.
Everything is happening at once, and it's a bit hard to handle. I can't logically turn down this job (if I even get offered it) without a definite alternative, but that means I only have this week to sort one out, and I don't think that's going to happen at the Hills end of things.
Clearly I need someone to just swoop in and sort out my life for me. Failing that, I need some confidence pills to get through this week, because I really hate bothering people in an effort to advance myself :/
